How did you make it to where you are in life? Who was helping you? How did you help yourself? Did you have a certain privilege, a boost up? Did someone pick you up when you were down? Did you learn to advocate for yourself?
These questions and many more came up as the founder went through a process of deep self reflection. They concluded that every human has exactly what they need inside to become the best version of themselves, they simply need the education and guidance to do so.
With this insight, they looked to build a vehicle for the education and support of at-risk youth: The Leon Foundation of Excellence.
Behind the Name: Leon – Lion (Bravery) Foundation – A Fund (Building a Foundation) Excellence – In Everything We Do
The Leon Foundation of Excellence serves high school students who are at-risk or on probation through leadership and character development, mentorship, and personal empowerment experiences. Founded in 2016, The Leon Foundation of Excellence has been growing ever since, helping over 40 students from 8th to 12th grade.
Together, we hope to provide the supports and resources to reduce the school-to-prison pipeline, a pathway to recidivism for those who have the lowest sense of self.
Unlock, empower, and ignite purpose within marginalized communities, closing the potential gap. Change the school-to-prison pipeline to a school-to-peace pathway.
